The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is hitting the market with a bang. 2024 brings an all-new Trailblazer to the road, with a vast array of improvements over the previous model. However, does this new model have everything you could want? Is it keeping up with other Chevy models and the competition? What can be done to continue to improve upon this subcompact SUV?
Some of the most interesting features we currently have in the industry aren’t widespread enough, at least not yet. While the 2024 Trailblazer is exciting and definitely is making big leaps in technology integration, there are still a few things I would love to see added that are already prominent on some of Chevy’s other vehicles. That’s not to say that you should skip this version of the Trailblazer altogether. On the contrary, the 2024 model is exciting, well-equipped, affordable, and definitely worth your attention, but there is always room for improvement and speculation. I want to emphasize what’s new in the 2024 model and where I believe Chevy will go next with its beloved value-packed SUV.
The 2024 Trailblazer is more feature-packed than many of its competitors, especially at the base level. The features I want to see in future models, I believe, will take this subcompact SUV to new heights, but I enjoy the 2024 model because it goes above and beyond, as the features that now come standard are a reminder that we’ve come a long way within ten years. Not only that, but I must acknowledge that the Trailblazer remains affordably priced, which is why some of the features I would love to see are not offered. However, it’s fun to see where we are and where we could go, so let’s dive into the 2024 model and what we hope to see as this generation progresses.
What Does the 2024 Model Bring to the Table?
The 2024 Trailblazer brings more than its fair share of upgrades over the 2024 model. As someone who is quite enamored by technology––to an annoying degree to my friends and colleagues––I was the nerd in school that everyone relied on to fix their devices. I only lacked pens in my pocket and a pair of glasses, but I ended up getting a pair of glasses in my mid-twenties, funny enough. Anyways, what piqued my interest so heavily in the 2024 Trailblazer is what Chevy has done to ultimately change the game in what kind of technology we can expect in new vehicles that cost under $25,000––it’s truly awe-inspiring.
Remember when we thought touch screens were innovative? We can thank Steve Jobs for popularizing that concept, but little did we know that touch screens would make their way into everything we own, even our refrigerators and our vehicles. The 2024 Trailblazer is certainly not the first to implement a touchscreen-operated infotainment center, but the 2024 model has upgraded to a massive 11-inch screen. This 11-inch touchscreen comes with every 2024 Trailblazer model, from the base trim to the priciest. The 2023 Trailblazer and various models before it allowed for an eight-inch touchscreen, but even that wasn’t standard. The base Trailblazer models used to come with a seven-inch screen, which is more in line with what other vehicles in the Trailblazer’s price range will offer, which means that the 11-inch screen is quite an upgrade. This more significant infotainment center isn’t only sleeker, but the image quality is crisper, and the performance is faster.
The 2024 Trailblazer retains the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto implementation we’ve seen since the 2022 model––the 2021 model instead utilized a wired connection. I’ve always been a prominent and outspoken supporter of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto––again, to the dismay of my peers. I can’t help but gawk at how seamless everything works, and the wireless variant in the 2024 Trailblazer means you never have to bring a charging cable again. However, there’s one caveat: you only get this feature if you purchase the LT, ACTIV, or RS trims. If you go for the base LS model, you are still going to want to bring the USB cable along for the ride. Like prior models, the 2024 Trailblazer also features an easy-to-use and secure private network connection with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot coming with every trim level and activated via a subscription service.
What Can/Should Be Done for the Future
Now that we’ve discussed what the 2024 model brings to the table, let’s talk about the features that are missing and that I would like to see added as this generation progresses. For starters, something I hope to see in future models includes Super Cruise. What is Super Cruise? It’s Chevy’s version of semi-autonomous, hands-free driving. It’s not quite self-driving because human intervention may still be required, and you have to pay attention to your surroundings at all times.
Super Cruise is a technology that allows the vehicle to take control if you’re driving on one of the hundreds of thousands of miles of roads that support the feature. Vehicles with Super Cruise feature a light bar on the steering wheel that illuminates when you’re on a road that the feature will work on. It’s great to have if you want to take a quick break while driving as vehicles with Super Cruise handle acceleration, braking, and certain degrees of turning.
Super Cruise is a technology built by GM that has appeared in many vehicles for the last five years. The first time we ever saw Super Cruise in a Chevy model was with the release of the 2021 Bolt EUV––Chevy’s electric SUV that accompanied the previously released Bolt EV. In the years that followed, more Chevy vehicles followed with Super Cruise installed. GM has gone on to implement Super Cruise in many of its best-selling models, including the Tahoe and Silverado.
2024 models to receive Super Cruise include the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Silverado EV. This adds to the list that already includes the Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, and Bolt EUV. The Trailblazer is not on this list. Is there a reason for this? Sure, there’s no vehicle on the list of Super Cruise models that matches the price point of the Trailblazer. However, I think as the technology gets integrated into more Chevy vehicles, it’ll become more affordable, allowing it to be added to the likes of the Trailblazer. It won’t be too long before most, if not all, Chevy vehicles feature Super Cruise.
The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer Is an Affordable Win
I believe Chevy is doing incredible work. It’s the constant thrive of innovation that keeps me coming back to study what this manufacturer has planned for the future. The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is a great example of how far Chevy’s innovation and drive have taken it. This new model has a better screen and more integrated features without needing to leave the affordable base price behind. However, as I said earlier, there is always room for improvement, and I think that a model like the Trailblazer will be the perfect place to continue to see how dedicated Chevy is to making technology accessible. I don’t think it will be long until we see exciting features like Super Cruise implemented into this subcompact SUV. The 2024 Trailblazer is a fantastic vehicle for anyone looking for a Chevy-infused feature-packed experience that starts under $25,000.
