What Makes the New Buick Envision a Luxury SUV?

That’s a great question, but the answer comes down to more than just one or two simple things to point to. The elements that have enhanced the updated Buick Envision as a more luxurious SUV are comprehensive and found across the vehicle, inside and out. Note that Buick didn’t completely redesign the Envision for the 2024 model year; instead, they gave it a significant facelift and refresh with plenty of new features. Still, as you’re looking at different SUVs and cars for sale, the newly revised Envision is likely to catch your eye and hold your attention thanks to a variety of features and options. So why would I classify the 2024 Buick Envision as a luxury SUV? Let’s take a look at what it has to offer, and I think you’ll see why I feel this way.

Solid Power and Performance

The first thing we should talk about is the kind of performance you get with the 2024 Envision because luxury is about more than comfortable seats and big interior displays. Power and performance are at the heart of any luxury vehicle; it should be fun to drive and feel amazing on the road, keeping you in control every moment. The 2024 Envision is powered by a 2.0L EcoTec Turbo 4-cylinder engine that delivers 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque; this is true no matter which model you look at. Considering that this is a compact SUV, that’s plenty of power to ensure you have a good time behind the wheel of this beauty.

This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and responsive driving experience no matter where you need to go. One of my favorite things about performance with the Envision is that Buick has made Intelligent all-wheel drive standard on every model. This keeps you in control every moment you’re on the road; just as importantly, it means Buick didn’t have to balance the handling and performance for multiple drive types. So, every Envision feels right when you’re driving it. There’s an advanced suspension included with the Avenir model that features Continuous Damping Control for an even smoother ride, but every model provides a luxurious driving experience that glides along the road.

Stylish and Assertive on the Outside

Let’s be honest: a key element of luxury is a vehicle that looks great. You want something that turns heads and makes others jealous; there’s no shame in that; it’s half the fun of driving a luxury SUV like this. Buick understands this quite well, which is obvious when you look at the updated Envision and see the stylish details and beautiful overall design it brings to the road. It has a wide, powerful stance that immediately commands attention wherever it goes, with check-shaped LED daytime running lamps created to make a memorable impression.

The starting Preferred model features 18-inch wheels with heated, power outside mirrors with memory settings along with these signature lighting details for great overall looks. Full luxury comes with the Avenir model, however, which elevates its style by riding on 20-inch wheels, with a panoramic power moonroof up top, and much more. The running lamps and LED tail lamps even animate as you approach the Envision to welcome you and put on a show that’s sure to get some attention. All of this adds up to an SUV that looks as good as it drives; nothing says luxury like that.

Beautifully Designed and Appointed Interior

Well, maybe not “nothing;” a beautiful and richly designed interior is arguably more important than the exterior since that’s where you get to enjoy your vehicle. Again, Buick proves they understand this as well as anyone since you’ll find gorgeous details across every model. The starting Preferred trim features perforated leatherette seating with front bucket seats and an eight-way power driver’s seat that includes memory settings. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard, along with QuietTuning to block and absorb sound with Active Noise Cancellation to provide you with a quiet cabin that’s hard to beat.

As you might expect, the Avenir trim takes things to another level entirely. You’ll find perforated leather-appointed seating inside the Avenir, with eight-way power driver and front-passenger seats including four-way power lumbar. The Avenir has heated front and rear seats, with ventilated front seats and even massage functionality in the driver’s seat. Buick has decked out the Avenir with a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more features to keep you comfortable and surrounded by elegant sophistication.

Excellent Tech Features Across All Trim Levels

Right alongside the style and comfort of the Envision’s interior, Buick has also loaded it up with some of the most impressive tech features in their lineup. For starters, there’s a massive 30-inch Ultrawide display across the front dashboard, the largest in its class. Every model also comes with a nine-speaker Bose premium sound system, a wireless charging pad, and even a head-up display that projects information onto the windshield so you can keep track of it without taking your eyes off the road. Adaptive cruise control, keyless open and start, and ambient interior lighting are also standard with every 2024 Buick Envision. Remarkably, the Avenir has many of the same standard tech features since Buick has loaded every model with a lot to enjoy.

Safety Is Luxurious

I’ll be the one who’s brave enough to say it: safety features are a key part of luxury in a vehicle. I know that leather seats, big displays, and impressive designs will always get most of the attention, but nothing is more luxurious than peace of mind—that comes with excellent safety tech. Buick gets this, and the Envision is the perfect example of what I’m talking about. Every model comes with an impressive standard suite of driver-assistance technologies that includes a Forward Collision Alert with Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking to warn you of a potential collision and help you avoid it. Lane Keep Assist with a Lane Departure Warning is included, along with Rear Park Assist, a Following Distance Indicator, and even HD Surround Vision that gives you an enhanced view around your vehicle at low speeds.

A huge number of new features are also included as standard for every 2024 Buick Envision. These include Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Side Bicyclist Alert, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking to help keep you and others around you safer while you’re driving. Rear Cross Traffic Braking is included to automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision with a vehicle behind you, along with Blind Zone Steering Assist to keep the Envision from moving into a lane where a vehicle is detected. This is a remarkable list of standard safety systems found on every model, and honestly, I didn’t even detail everything included because it would quickly become overwhelming. This is an SUV designed to be driven and to get you home safely at the end of the day—what’s more luxurious than that?

The Updated Buick Envision Brings It All Together

Buick has gone all-out to make the revised Envision an impressive and well-appointed part of their luxury lineup. Buick sits in a bit of a strange position in GM’s lineup since it needs to be more high-end than Chevy and GMC, but not quite reach the same level as Cadillac. I don’t think they’ve always pulled off that balance, but the modern lineup feels like it’s moving in the right direction with models like the updated Envision, the next-generation Enclave, and the entirely new Envista. This creates a lineup that finds a place for itself among other GM brands without feeling lacking in direction or purpose. Seeing the kinds of luxury features Buick loaded into the Envision, it’s clear that they’re fighting to remain relevant; as long as they keep delivering these kinds of models, I think they’ll win that fight.
