The Top 6 Used Luxury SUVs for Buyers On a Budget

Luxury SUVs are making up a larger and larger portion of the cars for sale today—not just in the United States but everywhere. The appetite for SUVs is well known; when you add features like high-performance engines, sophisticated aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and premium materials, it’s no wonder people are hungry for a luxury version. This trend comes even as the luxury car market is shrinking, demonstrating how powerful the allure of a premium SUV is.

However, with the price of new cars still near its all-time high, buying a mint luxury SUV is prohibitive for many Americans. In many cases, a used luxury SUV can be the solution. Even a vehicle that’s only a few years old can help you save big while offering everything you’re looking for in your next vehicle. But what SUV should you purchase? Here are my picks for the top six used luxury SUVs that help people save money while enjoying the style, amenities, and lasting performance they crave.

#1 – Audi Q7

While there are plenty of impressive Audi SUVs, the long-running Q7 gets my vote. This midsize, three-row crossover was Audi’s first SUV and has remained the flagship since its 2007 maiden voyage. The current second-generation Q7 received a facelift in 2020 to stay at the top of the luxury SUV heap. The optional 335 hp 3.0L turbo-six engine offers plenty of bite, while a 2.0L turbo-four base engine is ideal for people who want luxury style but don’t need massive power.

The biggest reason for the Audi Q7’s inclusion is its status as a fantastic family vehicle. It has comfortable seating for up to seven people, intuitive technology that’s easy to use, and all the latest driver assistance safety features. Do you want to emphasize the performance aspect? Check out the 500 hp SQ7 introduced as part of the 2020 refresh.

#2 – Porsche Cayenne

The midsize Cayenne has graced roads worldwide for more than 20 years and remains a pinnacle of sport luxury. The third generation, which was introduced in 2019 and refreshed in 2024, shares its underpinnings with the Audi Q7—but it offers the distinct power, looks, and road dynamics of the legendary automaker.

Newer editions of the Cayenne are available with a variety of powertrain combinations to fit your budget and adrenaline desires. The top of the line is the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid with a 4.0L twin-turbo plug-in hybrid powertrain that generates 729 hp; the base engine matches the Audi Q7’s optional V6. Not surprisingly, it drives like a Porsche despite the size—so much so that it was a finalist for the 2022 MotorTrend Performance Vehicle of the Year. Higher trims bring luxurious features such as leather upholstery, Burmester premium speakers, and ambient lighting to drive in style.

#3 – Lincoln Navigator

The array of excellent used luxury SUVs isn’t limited to the midsize segment. The full-size Lincoln Navigator dates to 1998, and the fifth generation was introduced in 2025. That means the fourth generation, made from 2018 to 2024, slots in as a high-value choice for those who want a sophisticated used SUV. The lone engine is a stout one, as the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 produces up to 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It has body-on-frame construction as well if you ever want to experience off-roading with flair.

A used Navigator also has tech that still feels ahead of the times. A 13.2-inch infotainment screen was made standard in 2022, and some models come with dual 10.1-inch rear displays and up to 28 speakers. The Navigator was also an early adopter of Ford BlueCruise technology for hands-free driving on compatible roads. Finally, buying a used Lincoln Navigator is now the only way to get this vehicle with rear-wheel drive, offering slightly better fuel mileage and a little sportier driving experience.

#4 – Genesis GV70

This compact luxury crossover debuted for the 2022 model year and came out with a bang, winning the MotorTrend SUV of the Year Award. Although it’s smaller than Genesis’ flagship GV80, the GV70 makes a big impact. Two powertrains are available, with the larger 3.5L twin-turbo V6 making 375 hp. All-wheel drive is standard, contributing to driving manners that have been compared to sports cars.

You’ll also get a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, a sleek interior, premium cabin materials, and one of the largest cargo areas in its class. Add the trademark polished Genesis styling, and you have an SUV that blends beauty and practicality at a price far lower than its competitors, especially when buying used. With the Genesis GV70 slated to get a refresh in 2026, it creates an opportunity to get a great deal on a high-quality used ride.

#5 – Lexus RX

The RX came out in 1998 and remains a stellar way to get an incredible on-road experience in the model that pioneered the luxury crossover. This SUV has even offered hybrid powertrain options since 2005, making it one of the most efficient high-end SUVs available. The redesigned fifth-generation model in 2023 introduced a massive 14-inch touchscreen and updated safety tech while maintaining the spacious size and premium ride.

In some ways, though, the fourth-generation models are more attractive. They offer a bigger 295 hp V6 engine, a refined interior, available Mark Levinson audio systems, and a plethora of active safety technology at lower prices. Plus, this generation includes the RX 350L variant with third-row seating to bring your family and friends everywhere. Either way, the value of a used Lexus RX is hard to beat.

#6 – Volvo XC90

The three-row XC90 is the oldest SUV Volvo still manufactures—but few machines in any segment can match its performance. It’s one of the few vehicles to win multiple MotorTrend SUV of the Year honors, as the original XC90 won the crown in 2003, and the second-generation debut did the same in 2016. That second-gen XC90 was facelifted in 2020, giving you more options to balance desired features and affordability.

XC90 SUVs made from 2016 to 2024 are where power meets efficiency. They are available with a variety of powertrains, with the base option delivering 250 hp. At the top end, the XC90 Recharge is a plug-in hybrid with 400 hp and an 18-mile electric range. The 85.7 cu.ft. of cargo space is among the best in the three-row luxury SUV segment, and some trims will include features like built-in navigation and massaging seats. The Volvo XC90 has also consistently received five-star NHTSA safety ratings and IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards, so you’ll never be worried behind the wheel.

Luxury You Can Afford

Treating yourself to a high-end SUV doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune. Used luxury SUVs let drivers enjoy the perks of these vehicles at a relative bargain. Depending on the dealership, most used vehicles have been inspected and have some sort of warranty—and once you own the vehicle, they depreciate a lot slower than a brand-new ride.

Furthermore, while I limited this list to six models, there are plenty more fine luxury SUVs available that just missed the cut. Whether it’s the models I named or another automaker you trust, I strongly recommend that anyone with premium tastes and limited cash check out a used luxury SUV as part of the car-buying process.
