There’s no denying that technology has been a driving factor in the auto industry essentially since it started. Whether you’re talking about enhancements in engine design or manufacturing innovations like large-scale implementation of assembly lines and more, technology is irrevocably intertwined with what car companies do. This is just as true when it comes to the kinds of features you find on vehicles, especially full-size trucks like the Ram 1500. If you go looking for a Ram 1500 for sale, you’ll quickly discover that exterior and interior tech features are at the forefront of what Ram does with their trucks. Impressive tech can help create a driving experience beyond what was available a decade or so ago, so let’s have a closer look at the 2025 Ram 1500, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Exterior Tech Features
Before I start getting into details, I should mention that Ram has revamped this truck for the 2025 model year, giving it a facelift and a lot of new features inside and out. You’ll find many things here that aren’t available on the 2024 Ram 1500, so keep that in mind when looking at different models. I’m going to start with exterior tech features, including some impressive safety technology, and then we’ll move into the cabin, where plenty of bold options await us.
Powered Tailgate
There are plenty of flashy tech features that are pretty easy to notice, but some things are subtler while still giving you great functionality. For example, the available powered tailgate for the 2025 Ram 1500 makes it easier to access things inside the truck’s bed. You can open and close the tailgate with the push of a button on the tailgate handle, inside the cabin on the overhead console, or on the key fob. Being able to close your truck’s tailgate by pushing a button on the key fob is simply a neat piece of tech that can make your life easier, which is what I’m all about.
RamBox Cargo Management System
Some folks might argue with me on whether this is a tech feature, but I’m sticking to my proverbial guns on this one. The 2025 Ram 1500 has a RamBox Cargo Management System available that includes small storage compartments above the rear wheels. These are illuminated and lockable, which is nice, and the driver-side RamBox even has a 115-volt AC outlet that you can plug into. If you want to plug in more stuff, then there are two 110-volt power outlets available in the bed to accommodate more equipment that you need to power at remote locations.
LED Lighting with Walk-Up Animation
One of my favorite little features for the 2025 Ram 1500 is the revamped exterior lighting and how well it enhances your experience with this truck. The upgraded exterior looks very nice overall, but the available LED walk-up animation takes things further with a Ram logo and “light carpet” that welcomes you to your vehicle as you approach your truck. It’s flashy, sure, but it can also enhance visibility around your truck when approaching at night, which is ideal at remote campsites or in the dead of winter if you live somewhere that gets icy. Plus, you can customize it to meet your needs or shut it off if you prefer.
Hands-Free Active Driving Assist
Not to be outdone by other trucks that offer it these days, the 2025 Ram 1500 has an available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist system that features true, hands-free driving on a huge network of highways across the US. You have to keep your eyes and attention on the road, just like with similar systems, but when activated, you can take your hands away and relax a bit while the Ram 1500 handles everything, including keeping you safely in your lane and adjusting speed based on traffic around you. If you ask me, Ram needs to come up with a better name for it than “Hands-Free Active Driving Assist,” which doesn’t exactly pop like “Super Cruise” or “BlueCruise,” but at least they’re in the game.
ParkSense Automated Parking System
There’s a long list of standard and available safety features for the 2025 Ram 1500, including all kinds of impressive technology that I’m not going to get into right now. One feature that I want to mention, however, is the ParkSense Automated Parking System because it can make your life a lot easier. This is what it sounds like: it can detect appropriate parking spots for your truck and then adjust gear selection, throttle, and braking to help you navigate the Ram 1500 into or out of a spot. It works for both perpendicular and parallel parking so that you can focus on other things.
Interior Tech Features
The revamped cabin for the 2025 Ram 1500 is inarguably gorgeous; some trims might go overboard for folks looking for something simple, but that’s just the modern truck market. The Tungsten trim won’t be for everyone, but there’s no denying it does what it sets out to do. Standard and available tech features inside this truck are on a level all their own, enhancing the time you spend on the road.
Over 50 Inches of Combined Display Area
As your humble guide to the tech features of the 2025 Ram 1500, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t kick off interior tech with the truly insane amount of display area on offer here. If you go with all of the available options, then you get a 14.5-inch infotainment display in the center stack, a 12-inch driver information display behind the steering wheel, and a 10.25-inch front-passenger touchscreen display. That’s right; even your front passenger can get their own screen, which is designed not to be visible by the driver, so you don’t have to worry about distractions. Finally, an available head-up display projects information onto the windshield, making it easier for you to watch your speed, navigation, and more info while keeping your eyes on the road.
Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio System
If you like impressive sound systems, then the 2025 Ram 1500 has your number thanks to “the most powerful available audio system in its class,” according to Ram. Found exclusively on the pinnacle Tungsten trim for this truck, this is a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio system that includes a 24-channel 1,228-watt amplifier and a 12-inch subwoofer. Yeah, this thing is an absolute beast and your neighbors are sure to love it. It’s not for everyone, but if you want your truck to be a sound system on wheels, there’s no denying what it can do.
Massaging Seats
I wouldn’t normally consider seating a “tech feature,” but the seats available for the 2025 Ram 1500 take things to a level that makes them impossible to ignore. This is about more than comfort, though I can’t argue with how comfortable 24-way power-adjustable seating is. I’m not sure most people would ever use all of those adjustments, but you’d have them all the same. These seats are heated, ventilated, include memory functionality, and even have a massaging feature that takes comfort and extravagance beyond what most trucks offer. Again, not for everyone, but if you want a truck that drips with luxury, then the Tungsten trim can’t be beat.
Which Tech Features Are You Most Interested In?
For my money, the best tech features are ones that make my life easier and keep me comfortable throughout long hours on the road. I’m a fan of the RamBox storage system and in-bed outlets, plus the exterior lighting with the walk-up animation is something that would pretty much always put a smile on my face. Inside, I like those big displays—the idea of your copilot easily controlling audio and navigation info is compelling—though I doubt I’d ever spring for the sound system and ultra-luxury seating, as nice as those might be. Hands-Free Active Driving Assist could be worth it, though I’m still a bit “wait and see” on that tech to let the software engineers keep getting the bugs out of it. Overall, I think there’s a lot to like here that can make my life easier, which is most important when it comes to tech features.
