When you pass a GMC Dealer in the coming years, you are bound to notice new and eye-catching additions to the iconic company’s lineup. We are not just referring to new colors or features but electric vehicles in all shapes and sizes.
It is safe to say that the future of cars is electric. Companies like GMC are working every year to reach their energy savings goals. But this does not mean they will sacrifice performance or power. In fact, many EVs that are being released often offer as much, if not more, performance and strength than ever before.
With recent introductions like the Hummer SUV or Hummer pickup plus the upcoming release of the impressive-looking Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 truck, GMC is taking things to a new level and showing drivers what electric can do.
While many drivers might be hesitant to jump from gas to electric, GMC makes it easy. Its modern and streamlined vehicles, like the Hummer EV SUV or Hummer EV pickup, give you classic good looks balanced with noteworthy power and user-friendly technology that makes going green a stress-free and rewarding experience.
GM: On The Road To Carbon Neutral
With all the hype around going green, hybrids, and EVs these days, we are sure you have heard and seen a few things, good or bad, and wonder if it is really for you. Or what your favorite car company is doing to help combat climate change. Companies seem to be more talk and less action, not so with GM and its subsidiaries like GMC, Chevy, and Cadillac, among others.
GM is a business with a plan. And that plan? GM has set its sights on removing tailpipe emissions from US light-duty vehicles by 2035. It will upgrade its global operations and become carbon-neutral by 2040. Because GM is such a vast company, it is refreshing to see them leaping to clean energy. This is something everyone can get behind.
GMC is not just talking either; besides the introduction of its EV Hummer and soon-to-be-released Sierra EV models, GMC is focused on expanding its lineup while also investing in sustainable energy. By 2025 (that is only a few years away!) GM will have transformed its US sites to run on 100% sustainable energy, and by 2035 the company hopes to cross over to use 100% sustainable energy worldwide wholly.
One of the best examples of GM’s sustainable energy use is the Spring Hill plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. This is the largest GMC site in the US, taking up 2,100 acres. While the manufacturing done on this site is powered by clean solar energy, there are also over 700 acres that are used for farming, plus 100 acres set aside to preserve natural wildlife habitats for local flora and fauna. GM is currently ranked 12th on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Top 100 List of the most significant green power users from their Green Power Partnership program.
If you are looking for an eco-friendly company for your next ride, GMC EVs offer the perfect balance of style and capability, all with zero-carbon emissions. Check out one of GMC’s EV models and go green without compromise.
The Next Level EV Hummer
The GMC Hummer is an iconic vehicle and one that is often at the top of wish lists. While the SUV is known for its power and style, it has only sometimes been the most efficient vehicle until now. The Hummer EV SUV and Hummer EV Pickup give you classic GMC power with zero carbon emissions.
The GMC Hummer EV is so impressive that the History Channel even made a documentary about the vehicle in 2022 titled “REVOLUTION: GMC HUMMER EV.” The hour-long special followed the engineering team over the course of 2 years as they developed and launched the super vehicle.
The Hummer EV was GMC’s first-ever all-electric vehicle. The technology was used on the Hummer SUV and the Hummer Pickup, giving drivers two great options to fit their lifestyles. However, besides the build, both models are nearly identical, designed for challenging work and play. Go over rocky roads or tackle sandy dunes from behind the wheel, all while reducing your carbon footprint to zero.
The Hummer EV models were designed to deliver up to 1,000 horsepower plus torque of up to 11,500 lb-ft! If that is not enough, drivers can expect to go upwards of around 355 miles per full battery charge in the current 2023 model.
Various battery charging options puts the power into the driver’s hands. At-home charging stations let you power up overnight. But if you are on the road, available DC fast charging enables you to add nearly 100 miles to your battery in about 12 minutes. So you can power up and be on your way in no time.
