As 2019 comes to an end and we usher in 2020, you might not be one of those people caught up in the rush for the latest 2020 model year vehicles. Instead, your interests might rest with used cars, in particular, used 2019 models that you can find at a lower price. This is a good time to start watching for those kinds of deals, and when you see a particularly impressive discount on a great vehicle, you want to be ready to scoop it up.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the best used 2019 cars, trucks, and SUVs out there, so you know what to watch for. Keep in mind, there are a lot of options available, and your particular needs might guide your decision more than anything else. I’ll try to provide great options in a wide range of categories so you can get a sense of what to watch for no matter what kind of vehicle best suits your needs. Just remember to consider specific trim levels and other options as you look at what’s out there and find the right used car for you.
2019 Chevrolet Spark
2019 was a great year for the Chevy Spark, and that makes it one of the best ‘new’ used cars on the market. It started at a low price to begin with, just over $13,000, so a used model, even one with a lot of bells and whistles will come in nice and low. Just remember that the Spark is a hatchback, so if that’s what you’re looking for, then this is a great choice.
You get more than 27 cu.ft. of cargo space in the 2019 Spark, and it offered an estimated 29/38 mpg in the city and on the highway. For a used car that will treat you right for years to come while saving you a lot of money up-front and at the pump, this is a fantastic choice.
2019 Nissan Altima
If you are more interested in a standard sedan, then the 2019 Nissan Altima is a great choice when looking at the most recent used cars available. The 2019 model was redesigned with a sleek look inside and out, so it makes quite an impression and had a lot of fantastic features, including Zero Gravity front seats for incredible comfort and active noise cancellation for the cabin. These Zero Gravity seats are 8-way power adjustable and designed to keep you comfortable and reduce fatigue on long drives.
As a midsize sedan, the Altima has pretty good trunk space, with about 15 cu.ft. available, which won’t match what you can get with a hatchback like the Spark, but is otherwise excellent. Other great options available on the Altima included a full suite of active safety features and an available Bose sound system for a truly compelling driving experience.
2019 Chevrolet Volt
One of the best plug-in hybrids on the road, the 2019 Chevy Volt, is a fantastic option if you want a used car that will give you truly incredible fuel economy. As a plug-in hybrid, not only is the 2019 Volt easy to charge, but it offers great electric-only range for getting around town and combined performance that is very impressive. The only downside of the Volt is that it did have a pretty high starting price, so this won’t be a used model that you will save a lot of money on.
With a full charge, the 2019 Volt has an electric-only range of up to 53 miles, so you can get around town and make short trips without ever touching your gas tank. When fully charged and using both the battery and gas, you get a range of up to 420 miles total. That means no matter where you need to go, the 2019 Chevy Volt can get you there.
2019 Chevrolet Corvette
While we are talking about Chevy used cars, it’s also worth taking a moment to mention the 2019 Corvette. A lot of attention is being paid to the all-new 2020 Chevy Corvette due to its mid-engine design that has resulted in a radical new vision for the vehicle. While that’s all well and good, it’s important to remember that the major redesign means the 2019 model might be the last traditional Corvette we see for a while.
To be fair, this is a sports car through and through, so you’re not going to find one very cheap. However, a 2019 Corvette could potentially become a collector’s item in the long-run if the new design is a massive success. Will we remember the 2019 model fondly in a few decades as the last of its breed? Only time will tell.
2019 Ford F-150
2019 was a good year for the Ford F-150 (though in all honesty, what year isn’t?), and if you’re looking for a used truck in fantastic condition, then this can be a great choice. While used cars are great for people that need them, a used truck is a terrific way to grow a commercial fleet or stay on the road while saving a little money. The 2019 Ford F-150 had six engines available, including a power stroke turbo-diesel, so there is some incredible power to be had.
When properly equipped and configured, the maximum towing capacity for the F-150 in 2019 was a solid 13,200 lbs. That gives you really impressive power and performance, plus the F-150 started at under $29,000 so you can find some good deals out there.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Speaking of great used trucks, keep the 2019 Chevy Silverado in mind when considering your used options. The standard Silverado received a major overhaul in 2019, so these are some of the strongest and most impressive trucks Chevrolet has ever produced. They were also priced competitively with the F-150, so you really have your pick of the litter with these trucks while saving some money.
The 2019 Silverado had eight trims and four engines available, so you will find a lot of different configurations out there on the used market. When properly configured and equipped, the Silverado has a maximum towing capacity of up to 12,200 lbs and a maximum payload of up to 2,250 lbs. While that comes in just a little under the F-150, it’s certainly comparable in my book.
2019 Acura RDX
2019 was also a big year for the Acura RDX, as the midsize SUV received a total redesign and major update that really brought it to a new level. Available features in the 2019 RDX included a panoramic moonroof, 16-way power adjustable Milano leather seating, and a mind-blowing 16-speaker premium audio system that creates a remarkable and truly luxurious driving experience. While the Acura RDX might have been criticized in the past, the 2019 model was a revolution, and though a bit costly, it is well worth the investment.
2019 Chevrolet Blazer
Of course, while I’m talking about SUVs among used cars from 2019, it would be a shame to miss the all-new and impressively updated Blazer from Chevrolet. The 2019 Blazer is a midsize crossover that really emphasizes the sporty nature of this segment, with up to 64 cu.ft. of cargo space and available estimated fuel economy of 22/27 mpg in the city and highway. That gas mileage is thanks to an EcoTec 2.5L engine that came standard.
If you want a bit more pep in your SUV, then look for a used 2019 Blazer with the available 3.6L V6 engine, which offers up to 308 hp and a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 lbs. You might lose just a little fuel economy, but the experience is more than worth it.
