Breaking Down Buick’s New Three-Trim Lineup

These days, when everything seems to have multiple levels to choose from, packages to consider, and more, it’s nice when you find a bit of simplicity within the chaos. For the 2025 model year, Buick has set out to do just that, offering you a clear path to your next vehicle by simplifying the options to the same three trims across its selection of four SUVs: the affordable Envista, the subcompact Encore GX, the compact Envision, and the three-row Enclave.

In addition, you gain peace of mind when choosing a Buick, knowing your vehicle is backed by the longest-running automotive manufacturer in the nation. In fact, the first Buick—the Model B—was introduced 120 years ago, five years after the brand was founded. If a new SUV is on your must-have list, each of the options Buick offers could be a strong contender. Keep reading to learn more about the ins and outs of the trim levels you’ll find when researching those four SUVs to help you determine which is best for your driving lifestyle and needs before heading to your local Buick dealer.

Each of Buick’s three trim levels—the Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir—signify different levels of features, style, and performance. Their unique combinations of features appeal to different drivers, but one thing is for sure: among the three, it’s easy to find one that supplies many—if not all—of your must-haves. An overview of each is offered below to give you a better understanding of which trim might be the best match for you.

The Preferred: Entry-Level Premium

This is the base, entry-level trim. For many brands, that means you’ll find the bare minimum when it comes to amenities, but that is far from the truth where the Buick lineup is concerned. First, you’ll find an exterior design that is clean and simple but still includes premium touches. You’ll also find features that enhance the look of the SUV, like the available roof rack cross rails on the Encore GX and Enclave. This gives you the ability to haul extra luggage or add cargo carriers to transport things like your kayak, skis, and more.

On the inside of Preferred trim, you’ll find a comfortable, well-planned layout with advanced technology to keep you and your passengers connected during the drive. To access that technology, you’ll find that the Envista and Encore GX offer an 11-inch HD color touchscreen and an eight-inch color driver information center. Additionally, these two SUVs have standard USB ports—including charging-only ports—and an HD rear vision camera, a three-month SiriusXM trial subscription, and wireless connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

When choosing the Envision or Enclave, technology gets a boost thanks to the Ultrawide 30-inch premium display with Google built-in. This display delivers clear, crisp images and gives these models a modern, sleek style. The Envision and Enclave also have standard wireless charging in addition to the USB ports. Other standard features in the larger Buick models that focus on comfort include eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat. In addition, like the smaller models, they include a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM.

The Sport Touring: Athletic Aesthetics

As the name suggests, the Sport Touring trim is a sportier version of the base trim. This can easily be seen throughout the exterior, where you’ll find a more aggressive look with dark accents, distinctive badging, gloss black mirror caps and bodyside molding, a unique grille, black roof rails, and more. Additionally, when choosing the Enclave, you can opt for available black assist steps.

Regarding other exterior features, you’ll find that they mirror what was available for the Preferred trims of each of the four SUVs. For instance, a panoramic sunroof is available for all but the Envista. For it, however, you can enjoy added natural light by opting for the power moonroof. Heated outside mirrors, power liftgates, trailering packages, and LED headlamps and taillamps are all also offered on the Sport Touring trims for added functionality.

Like the outside of the Sport Touring trim, you’ll find a sportier vibe on the inside than what was offered at the base level. This includes a sport pedal kit that is inspired by the racing industry, giving your SUV an enhanced appearance thanks to the brushed metal pedals with raised rubber traction surfaces. This kit is available for both the Envista and Encore GX and is standard on the Envision when you opt for the Sport Touring. In addition, you’ll enjoy a standard flat-bottom steering wheel on both the Envision and the Enclave. Regarding technology, you’ll find the same features the Preferred trim offers on all four SUVs at the Sport Touring trim, including the Ultrawide 30-inch display found in the Envision and Enclave.

There are differences on the inside regarding materials. While all three Buick trim levels offer cushioned seating with ample room, the look of the Sport Touring trim seats is unique. For instance, you’ll be able to choose from options such as rich Garnet red interior detailing in the Envision or sporty Santorini Blue stitching in the Envista. For the Enclave, seating options include Ebony perforated leatherette seats with Sky Cool Gray and Ebony accents.

The Avenir: Top of the Line

As you might assume, the Avenir trim offers premium style, high-end finishes, and distinctive accents that not only help Buick models stand out among the crowd but cause passersby to turn around and take a closer look. From the standard Avenir mesh grille to the LED clear lens tail lamps and more, the exterior of the Avenir trim has a lot to offer. Additionally, you’ll enjoy features like a hands-free power liftgate, power-folding outside mirrors, brushed aluminum roof-mounted side rails, and exclusive Avenir Pearl Nickel finish wheels. Even in the affordable Envista, it’s hard to ignore the luxury the Avenir trim provides.

One of the biggest differences in the Avenir trim level comes in the way of technology. Hands-free technology, to be exact. The Enclave Avenir offers Buick’s Super Cruise hands-free driving technology. The Super Cruise system gives you the chance to arrive at your destination refreshed and ready to go while ensuring you stay alert in case you need to put your hands back on the wheel. There are many interior features that enhance the drive as well, including upgrades like a power front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. While the Enclave Avenir is the best-equipped model in the Buick lineup, you’ll also find great features in the Avenir trim for the Envision, Encore GX, and Envista.

All Good Things Come in Threes

At the end of the day, the Buick lineup offers four excellent SUVs, and the three trims let you pick your preferred level of advanced technology, convenience, and safety. Whether you opt for the Preferred level, which is well-priced and well-equipped for daily use, the Sport Touring trim, with its sporty design features aimed at buyers who seek a more athletic appearance, or the Avenir trim for the ultimate in luxury, with premium materials, innovative technology, and more refined style for a high-end feel, you’re sure to enjoy every trip you take.

Since 1899, the Buick brand has charted a course designed to provide drivers with options that offer just a bit more than the normal, which is exactly what you’ll find in the 2025 lineup. If you’re looking for simplicity when it comes to vehicle buying, consider opting for the clear path Buick has laid out, with three dynamic trim levels—and four exceptional SUVs—to choose from.
