Buick is currently one of the most recognizable car brand names in the industry, but it was not always that way. In fact, when Buick released its first Model B in 1904, Buick was considered one of the least successful brands of the time. However, it pushed past this initial barrier and, within a small handful of years from its founding, became recognized as a luxury brand. Since its Model B, Buick has created a wide variety of concept cars and has won various awards throughout the years. The Current Lineup of Buick Vehicles
Enclave
The Buick Enclave is a three-row, seven-seater midsize SUV. It’s been in production since 2007, meaning Buick has really taken the time to work out any kinks they may have started with. However, when it comes to the Enclave, Buick started it off basically modeled to perfection with very little to fix. It comes with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations and gets an average of 18 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. The Enclave can tow up to 5,000 pounds and has a cargo space of between 23.6 cubic feet with the seats up and 97.4 cubic feet with them down.
Encore
The Buick Encore is a subcompact SUV that gets an average of 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway with its 1.4-liter turbo engine. Buick started manufacturing the Encore in 2012, meaning it has had a little less time to be modeled to perfection, but Buick basically started this vehicle off perfectly anyways. It has front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options and anywhere from 18.8 to 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space. This model is perfect for the single commuter or small family due to its size and fuel efficiency.
Encore GX
The GX version of the Encore has only very recently started to be made, with the first official release of it being in 2020. This vehicle was well-received initially as a slightly more modern version of the Encore with a few more options available than the regular Encore does not offer and a slightly larger size. It still seats five people but gives those back seat passengers a little bit more room. Because it is a little roomier, its cargo space can go as high as 50.2 cubic feet. Despite the fact that it is a slightly larger subcompact SUV, the Encore GX actually has a slightly better fuel efficiency, with 29 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway. The GX offers front-wheel or all-wheel drive options, has a towing capacity of 1,000 pounds, and is driven by a 1.3-liter turbo I-3 engine.
Envision
Designed in 2011 and in production since 2014, the Envision is the least well-received model that Buick offers. This is another model that is best as a 2022, where Buick has really taken the time to overcome the shortcomings of the previous models. Continuing the luxury compact SUV trend, the Envision offers a maximum of 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down. Like the other SUVs, it comes with front-wheel or all-wheel drive options and will easily accommodate a total of five passengers. The Envision averages 24 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.
Models That Are Only Available Used
Buick discontinued the Regal in 2020, so, unfortunately, you won’t be finding this one new anymore. This also means that Buick is currently not making any sedans for the market, only having a lineup of SUVs. They have some concept cars in the making, but who knows when those will be released. So if you need a sedan, you’ll need to look at used options for the following.
Regal GS
The Buick Regal GS starts the Buick lineup for midsize sedans and was produced until 2020. The Regal GS has a cargo space of around 31.5 cubic feet, and this decrease in size is made up for by the increased fuel efficiency. The GS gets around 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway and has a 3.6-liter V6 engine.
Regal Sportback
The Buick Regal Sportback is classed as a sedan and can have either a 2 liter 4-cylinder turbo engine or a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Despite being a slightly smaller sedan, the Sportback is still able to accommodate quite a bit of cargo, coming in with 31.5 cubic feet of space. The Sportback has a combined average 26 MPG in its front-wheel drive configuration and 22 MPG combined in all-wheel drive.
Regal TourX
The Regal TourX is Buick’s midsize wagon and comes stock with a 4.0-liter turbo engine. In spite of the fact that it’s a wagon, it still gets great gas mileage. The TourX can get anywhere from 21 to 29 miles per gallon. The TourX is an AWD vehicle and can accommodate up to 73.5 cubic feet of cargo.
What Else Makes Buick Stand Out?
So we’ve looked at the different models Buick has to offer, but none of the listed items are what really make Buick a luxury brand. After all, any manufacturer can put a turbo in a car and give it a decent amount of cargo space. So what really sets Buick apart as a luxury vehicle? Well, in short, the interior and the look of the vehicle. Digging a little deeper, we can see that all new Buick models come stock with an infotainment screen that is at least 7 inches, with most models having an 8-inch screen. Most models offer the buyer a little bit of customizability with different trim packages and interior/exterior options. All Buicks are designed with comfort in mind meaning most of their models offer passengers a bit more room, and the seats are designed to provide premium levels of comfort throughout all different trim options.
Preferred
This trim can be found on the Buick Encore, Encore GX, Envision, Regal Sportback, and Regal TourX. This trim comes with upgraded wheels, heated windows, keyless entry and push-button start, the 7-inch infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a rear vision camera. The seats are upgraded to a leatherette material, and the driver’s seat comes with power adjustments. On the SUV models, this trim also includes a power liftgate, covered rear cargo storage, and rooftop rails.
Essence
This trim option is available on the Enclave, Encore GX, Regal Sportback, and Regal TourX. Much like the preferred trim, this trim option comes with upgraded wheels, heated windows, keyless entry, push-button start, the upgraded infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and safety features. However, this trim adds to that by giving buyers heated seats, a color display for the driving information, a heated steering wheel, and a remote start system. The seat material is upgraded to perforated leather, and the driver’s seat comes with a memory setting for seat placement.
Premium
You can add this trim option to the Enclave or Envision. This package comes with an upgraded speaker and infotainment system. It also adds power tilt and adjustment for the steering wheel, power-folding seats, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a memory package, HD Radio, and heated and power-folding mirrors.
Avenir
This trim can be found on any of the new Buick SUV models or the Regal Sportback and is the most luxury-oriented one of the bunch. This trim comes with upgraded wheels and speaker systems. It also includes an HD radio, GPS navigation, wireless charging, a universal home remote, park assist, a head-up display, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
