I do love pushing the envelope, testing boundaries, and crossing lines, so it’s no wonder that I’m all about the new Chevrolet Red Line Series – the latest concept vehicles from Chevy, set to debut officially on November 3, available at Chevy dealerships soon after in 2016.
Chevy designed the Red Line Series to showcase the potential for consumers to personalize their Chevy models, specifically, the Camaro, Colorado, Malibu, Silverado 1500, and Trax, in addition to the Spark RS concept car. The design or style theme, according to Chevy, centers around street smarts, with the Red Line Series concepts united by the same Enhanced Silver Metallic exterior, Satin Graphite, and red accents, topped off by a custom Charcoal roof panel.

What Inspired Chevy’s Red Line?
The design team and engineers at Chevrolet are always re-establishing the standard when it comes to their vehicles, raising the bar in defense of industry-leading cars and satisfied customers.
Customer satisfaction, as we know, comes from the availability of compelling choices and customers find customization possibilities enticing and exciting.
GM U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, Jim Campbell, explained, “The Chevrolet Red Line Series concepts integrate accessories that offer greater personalization choices. Each vehicle wears production and concept accessories thematically linked under the Red Line Series banner. We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”
Created in Chevrolet’s design studio, alongside the actual vehicles, the concept and production accessories will be presented to Chevy customers as options for select cars and trucks featured in the 2016 model year lineup.
Director of Accessories & Performance Parts Marketing, Roger McCormack, supports the Red Line Series components, “Chevrolet Accessories bring value and the added security of knowing the parts are designed, engineered, tested and backed by the same team that developed the vehicles.”

The 2016 Chevy Trax Red Line Series Concept
An ideal SUV for city dwellers, the 2016 Chevy Trax features outstanding fuel efficiency, EPA estimated at 34 highway mpg, courtesy of its 1.4-liter turbocharged ECOTEC engine rated at 138 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft. of torque with available all-wheel drive.
With the Red Line Series treatment, the 2016 Chevy Trax can be customized with concept components like gloss black Trax nameplates with red accents, suspension lowering kit, tinted taillamp lenses and windows, and Satin Graphite detailing on the grille, fog lamp bezels, window moldings, and mirror caps.
For Chevy’s accessories, check out the black bowtie kit, Thule roof mounts, roof rack cross rails, floor mats, all-weather cargo tray, and 18-inch wheels featuring center caps and red accents.
The 2016 Chevy Malibu Red Line Series Concept
Boasting impressive fuel economy at 37 mpg highway, with the hybrid version offering even more at 48 mpg city, the new Chevy Malibu is a sought after five-passenger sedan and a hallmark of the bowtie brand.
With Available Teen Driver technology, new drivers are supported to drive safely through audible and visual alerts when safety is being compromised.
As part of the Red Line Series, the 2016 Chevy Malibu offers concept features like tinted taillamp lenses and windows, Chevy’s Performance concept suspension lowering kit, red fog lamp bezels, Satin Graphite molding accents on the windows, and the Malibu gloss black, red-accented nameplate.
Chevy accessories include black mirro caps, a Thule roof rack, completed with mounted skis and snowboard, cargo mat, sport pedal kit, floor liners, and custom red-accented 19-inch wheels.
The 2016 Chevy Camaro Red Line Series Concept
All new for the 2016 model year, the sixth generation Chevy Camaro is a real pace setter. Equipped with three engine options, it is the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, generating an incredible 455 horsepower with matching 455 lb.-ft. of torque that makes this the most powerful Camaro SS ever seen.
Still available as a convertible, now with a fully electronic droptop, which you can operate even at speeds up to 30 mph, the 2016 Chevy Camaro has lots of customization options on its own.
However, with the Red Line Series, you can tweak those options even further, thanks to the available 20-inch Satin Graphite, red-accented 20-inch wheels, red fog lamp bezels, hash mark and decklid panel details, Satin Graphite window moldings and mirror caps, and the same black and red Camaro nameplate as seen on the other Red Line Series concepts.
Available accessories and performance components exist in a brake package, darkened taillamps, high-end carpeted floor mats, sill plates, and cargo mat, the black bowtie and fender badge kits, air intake kit, suspension lowering kit, and red grille inserts on the top and bottom.
The 2016 Chevy Colorado Red Line Series Concept
Voted Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year for 2015, the new Colorado looks just as capable, offering best-in-class horsepower, from its 3.6-liter V6 engine, rated at 305 horses. Chevy is the only automaker to offer a midsize diesel pickup truck, equipping the 2016 Colorado with the brand new Duramax 2.8-liter Turbo-Diesel engine.
As a Red Line Series concept, expect to see the black and red Colorado nameplate, in addition to Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude tires, and Satin Graphite door handles, fog lamp bezels, window moldings, grille inserts, and mirror caps.
For customized performance, you’ll get sport assist steps, floor liners, wheel flares, air intake and exhaust kits, black bowtie kit, 18-inch wheels center caps and red accents, along with GearOn cross rails, tiered storage, cargo rings, and Thule bike rack.
The 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 Red Line Series Concept
Available in eight unique trim levels, the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 boasts best in class torque at 305 lb.-ft. at 3,900 rpm, courtesy of its 4.3-liter EcoTec3 engine, which is able to produce 285 horsepower at 5,300 rpm with fuel economy rated at 18/24 mpg and maximum towing capacity at 7,600 pounds.
With the Red Line Series spin, the 2016 Chevy Colorado can be outfitted with concept components, such as red tow hooks, tinted taillamp lenses and windows, Silverado black and red nameplate, in addition to Z71 trim level bedside graphics, and the same Satin Graphite treatment on the grille, door handles, fog lamp bezels, mirror caps, and window moldings.
Performance specs from the Red Line Series come from equipment like red-accented 22-inch wheels, Brembo front brake kit, black-chrome exhaust tip, GearOn cross rails and cargo rings, floor liners, assist steps, cargo bed extender, air intake and exhaust kits, black bowtie kit, and Thule’s Hull-a-Port straps and mounts.
The 2016 Chevy Spark RS Concept
Borrowing the RS treatment featured on the Camaro, Sonic, and Cruze, the 2016 Chevy Spark RS is outfitted with rocker extensions, carbon-fiber rear-lower extension, a concept carbon-fiber front splitter, all atop 17-inch Corvette Z07-inspired wheels, with a Dark Liquid Switchblade Silver exterior, complete with custom graphic details.
Global Chevrolet’s Director of Design, Todd Parker, explained, “Every Chevrolet has the DNA of the Corvette and the Spark RS concept shows how the brand’s smallest car can deliver big on personalization. It advances the RS heritage and inspires it in an entirely new way.”
The result of a partnership between Chevy’s North American design studios and those located in Korea, public opinion regarding the Chevy Spark RS will ultimately determine whether the car will head for the production line.
